A total of 20 years of direct experience as a full time valuation consultant and cost engineering specialist, working on valuation projects primarily but not exclusively for some of Canada's largest tangible asset valuation firms as an Accredited Senior Appraiser and Professional Engineer conducting and producing valuations for some of North Americas largest public and private industrial clients. With well known competency in all facets of industry, construction, machinery, tooling and all things industrial, Paul has completed projects for every possible type of business situation that could ever require a formal appraisal.       

                                                                                                                                                    

  • Independent and Sub-contract appraisal projects and management of industrial property valuation services for clients with insurance and accounting related valuation projects needing professional appraisal services and valuation opinions.
  • Over $15 Billion Dollars appraised since inception, including approximately 2.5 Billion in Power Generation, 5 Billion in Mining assets, 1 Billion in Oil & Gas batteries, 2 Billion in Wood products plants, 2 Billion in Waste Water Treatment.
  • Due diligence and rigorous application of appraisal procedural elements leading to production of binding reports on heavy industrial properties for investment and insurance purposes.
  • Evaluate and assess asset portfolios to produce accredited appraisals of client properties for investment and insurance purposes, working with plant engineers, maintenance managers, and chief financial officers at client sites, in the procurement of the services.
  • Research and develop new replacement costs of buildings and equipment using publications, quantity take-offs, consultation, and general estimating techniques.
  • Inspect properties for physical depreciation and functional obsolescence, super-adequacy, excess cost, and economic obsolescence. Use the findings to drive valuation opinions.
  • Conduct market based research in a variety of industries relating to Market Value Opinions on Due Diligence projects for accounting and regulatory compliance needs.

 

Accomplishments:

  • Since 2003, Numerous Valuations for insurance of Natural Gas Fired Power Plants, Combined Cycle Power Plants, Coal Fired Power Plants, and Hydro Electric Power Plants.
  • Numerous appraisals of Major Sawmilling, Dimensional lumber, plywood and panel-board operations in Canada.
  • Appraisals of several base metals, precious metals, and coal mining and refining operations for finance, fresh start accounting and for insurance purposes.
  • Insurance and Market Value appraisal reports of numerous aluminum smelting  and potline operations in the US and Canada. AP185, AP230, Soderburg etc.
  • Appraisal of several natural gas and oil facilities, Deep cut, Shallow cut, Claus, Sweetening, Oil treating, Compression, Turbines etc for field and production hubs. 
  • Appraisal of several Municipalities and their assets including City Halls, Fresh Water Facilities, Waste Water Facilities etc.  
  • Prior to 2003, Over 600 valuation and appraisal projects for American Appraisal Associates  and billions of dollars in valuation conclusions, before starting Reliable Valuations in 2003. Several valuations of mines, lumber plants, pulp and paper operations, machine shops, injection moulding, blown film and rigid plastic extrusion, textiles equipment, construction equipment and aggregate equipment throughout Canada and the US.
  • Ten years of Reliable Appraisal work on asset based financing projects opining on liquidation values of equipment prior to startup of Reliable Valuations.
  • Five years of Reliable Opinions and Insurance appraisal work and purchase price allocation/transaction support work prior to startup of Reliable Valuations.
